Walker Racing also returning to manage factory tire team
With three GT victories over the last two seasons, Team Falken Tire returns to the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón in 2013 with a program that should look very familiar.
Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler and Falken factory pilot Bryan Sellers team again for a third straight year with Derrick Walker’s Walker Racing managing the effort for the No. 17 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The combination landed two victories in 2011 – at Mid-Ohio and Baltimore - and scored a Baltimore repeat in 2012.
“We are very happy to see the Falken Tire program continuing with the same elements for 2013,” said Jens Walther, President and CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. “Wolf has been an integral part of the program for three years and with his professional, competitive and team spirit he is the perfect complement to Falken’s very professional program. We are proud that Team Falken Tire has requested his services again in 2013 for their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.”
Falken, a leader in high performance tires for cars and trucks, has set an aggressive plan for its extensive motorsports programs that also includes Formula Drift, King of the Hammers and Supercross.
“Racing in all its forms is the ultimate proving ground for research and development and the perfect environment to authenticate Falken’s product,” said Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports Marketing and Events. “For many of the series in which we participate, we utilize off-the-shelf tires, which allow us to showcase their key attributes under extreme conditions as well as learn from those experiences.”
The 2013 ALMS season opens with the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh from Florida. The race is set for 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 17 from Sebring International Raceway. Live coverage will be available on SPEED.
