After a recent announcement that Formula 1 teams could pay as much as 10 times the entry fees for races starting next year, The Times newspaper has reported that F1 ‘Super License’ fees are also on the rise.

Journalist Kevin Eason said while current McLaren driver Jenson Button paid close to $200,000 (USD) when he won the drivers’ title with Honda in 2009, he could pay twice as much in 2013.

“(FIA president Jean) Todt is on a mission to fill the FIA’s coffers and is thought to be trying to raise an extra $40 million,” Eason wrote.

While the FiA standard entry fee for teams has risen to $500,000 (USD), constructors champions will pay an additional $6,000 per point, and other teams will pay $5,000 per point, the BBC reported. Already at 422 points, Red Bull Racing could face a 2013 entry fee as high as $3 million.

However, the per-point fee is lower than the initial proposal of $7,000, the BBC's Andrew Benson reported.
