This weekends American Le Mans Series race avoided a disastrous headline after the two Porsches of Marco Holzer and Eduardo Cisnero suffered large collisions close to the two-hour mark.
The two were battling through the esses at Virginia International Raceway. Holzer was on the inside of Cisnero for the left hander, and while setting up his Paul Miller Racing Porsche GT for the turn, made slight contact with Cisnero's NGT Porsche GTC. Holzer spun out and lost his right rear tire, while Cisnero hit the grass and flew into the tire barrier, tossing his car airborne and narrowly missing a television cameraman.
Thankfully no drivers or spectators were hurt. It is yet another example of the amazing safety systems these cars employ.
