The following item regarding the revised Sunday schedule for the 2014 Honda Indy Toronto is a slightly modified version of an update posted to the PRN Ignition Facebook page earlier tonight. It's likely not the sort of doubleheader anyone had envisioned, but two Verizon IndyCar Series races will held on the streets of Exhibition Place in Toronto on Sunday, July 20.
Persistent rain forced the cancellation Saturday's race shortly after 6 p.m. ET. After some deliberation with event promoters, IndyCar officials announced that both races will be held on a very busy Sunday. Each will be 65 laps or 80 minutes in length, whichever comes first. Race 1 will utilize a two-wide rolling start (green flag- 10:30 am ET), while race 2 will feature a standing start (lights out- 4:15 pm ET).
Start order for race 1 will be based on Saturday's qualifying with polesitter Sebastien Bourdais leading the field to the green flag. Race 2 start order will be based on entrant points.
The Honda Indy Toronto will honour all Saturday-only grandstand and general admission tickets on Sunday. These tickets can be exchanged at entrance kiosks tomorrow (July 20).
As far as the television broadcasts are concerned, NBCSN will carry both races live in the U.S. and Sportsnet will do the same In Canada. Check local listings or online for updates.
PRN Ignition staff will be back in the saddle at the track bright and early on Sunday morning to cover what promises to be a jam-packed day of racing.
Stay up-to-date via www.indy.prnmag.com, which will have on-track updates plus live timing & scoring for all of Sunday's action.
