Despite announcing the move of Formula One driver Mark Webber to Porsche’s new Le Mans P1 program next year, it appears the Australian driver won't be getting any seat time until his current F1 contract formally runs out on December 31 this year.
The difficulty comes from his obligations to Red Bull and its primary sponsor, automaker Infiniti, which extends to events outside of the series and the season schedule.
Porsche is planning to test its new prototype in November and December to coincide with the culmination of the 2013 F1 season, but unless a contract buyout is put in place for Webber, the German automaker will presumably use his factory P1 co-drivers Time Bernhard, Romain Dumas, and ex-F1 test driver Neel Jani for the tests.
