Until the worldwide premiere of the latest Shelby American offering at the 2013 North American International Auto Show here today, the words “Shelby Ford” and “Mustang” just seemed to flow together.

Now there's another one to add to the lexicon: “Focus.”

Indeed, seemingly indwelled with the spirit of the late Carroll Shelby -- the eponymous driver, designer and entrepreneur died in May, 2012 -- the new Shelby Focus ST is described as "a driver-focused masterpiece of performance with a budget minded price."

The Shelby Focus ST package is priced at $14,995 (plus the price of the base vehicle).

Shelby American also used its press conference to unveil a "wide body" version of its GT500 Super Snake, the vehicle that was revealed at last year's show.

But it was the Shelby Focus ST that got the most attention, with its four-cylinder turbocharged engine and unique Shelby detailing and functionality, all available in three visual graphics packages but limited to 500 vehicles per year.
