Toyota revealed its newest concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. The Yaris Hybrid-R is a showcase of the future technologies in Toyota vehicles, including the 1.6-litre Global Race Engine developed by the company’s motorsport division. Using the same technology as the TS030 Le Mans racing prototype, the Hybrid-R uses a brake energy-recovery system to reclaim energy for future use. The concept is directed at fuel-efficient performance and may see its way to the entire production lineup.
Toyota also plans to use technologies in their current and concept vehicles for a Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle (FCHV) to bring it closer to a zero-emissions hydrogen car. The company says it will offer status updates on the program before the launch of the 2015 model year.
