Racing Non Stop

The weather is getting colder, the leaves are changing and the sounds of race engines and tires squealing are just a memory as winter fast approaches. It’s hard to believe that in a short span from early May to mid-October, Atlantic Region Motor Sports (ARMS) and its member clubs managed to squeeze in six road race events, 25-plus lapping days, four time attack events, 35-plus autosla- lom events, three navigational rallies, two rally sprints, one performance rally and 25-plus karting race events. It’s no stretch to say, “time flies when you’re having fun”, as not a single weekend all summer passed with- out some sort of motor sport event taking place.

So what do you do after six months of non-stop motorsports besides take a break for a little down time to rest up and plan for upcoming mods to the race car over the winter for the 2014 season?

Racing Non-StopWell, there is the ARMS annual general meeting, which will be hosted this year by the Bluenose Auto- sport Club at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, Nov. 15 -17. This is a great three day event with a meet and greet on Friday night, followed by two days of meetings topped off with an awards Gala on Saturday evening. Lots of awards, winners, great food and lots of fun had for all those in attendance.

The ARMS member clubs will also be holding their AGM’s over the winter to elect new executives and plan for the 2014 competition season.

For those that are not scared of a little cold, snow and ice, three of our clubs are gearing up for their Win- ter RallyCross series. First up is the Bluenose Autosport Club’s 11th Annual BAC RallyCross Challenge Series,a 10-event series split between Scotia Speed World and Atlantic Motor Sport Park. Beginning on Nov. 10 (weather dependent) at Atlantic Motorsport Park and then on to Scotia Speed World on Nov. 24. For more info check out the BAC web site at www.bluenoseau- tosport.ca . Next up is Moncton Motor Sport Club with several events in January and February, (dates and location to be confirmed). For more info, check out the MMSC online at www.mmsc.ca . Last, but certainly not least, is the Fredericton Motorsport Club with a few events scheduled for January and February (dates and location to be confirmed). For more, please visit the FMC online at www.frederictonmotorsportsclub.ca.

There’s always plenty going on during the winter months, you just need to dress a little warmer. So come and join us at one of these rallycross events and have some fun playing in the snow again like when you were a kid!!

I guess if you don’t like the cold or don’t want to come out and play in the snow there is always the couch and the TV!
