Having made his test debut in an IndyCar last month, Canada’s James Hinchcliffe will return for a second two-day test outing with Newman/Haas Racing next week, Thursday 20th – Friday 21st January, once again at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida.
The 24-year-old from Toronto wasted little time in adapting to stepping up to the Honda-Dallara-Firestone package currently used in the IZOD IndyCar Series, James ending his December test with the fastest lap of the final day around the 1.65-mile permanent road course.
“I’m naturally pleased to be invited back for a second test with Newman/Haas Racing,” stated the 2010 Firestone Indy Lights Series Runner-Up. “December’s test was a productive one for both parties and obviously I was happy to get some seat-time in an IndyCar.
“I’ve had time since then to download all that went on, process the information and now I’m really eager to get back behind the wheel and build on that first experience. I’m working flat out to realize my ambition of racing in the IZOD IndyCar Series and this is a continuation of those efforts!”
Newman/Haas Racing, founded in 1983 by the late Paul Newman and Carl Haas, has a rich history in open-wheel racing with their driver roster reading like a ‘Hall of Fame’ class registry thanks to the likes of Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Cristiano da Matta and Sebastian Bourdais winning countless races and titles between them.
In 2010 the team fielded a full-time entry in the IZOD IndyCar Series for Japan’s Hideki Mutoh as well as a part-season, second-entry for America’s Graham Rahal.
