As a further highlight of its 50th anniversary year, Lamborghini unveiled plans to produced a limited edition of the Lamborghini Veneno in Roadster trim. There will be no more than nine units produced in 2014, which is ironically six more than the original close-top version previously launched at the Geneva Auto Show. Further bolstering the Veneno Roaster's status among the supercar elite is its 3.3 million price tag – making it the most expensive car ever. The car is being called a racing prototype with an emphasis on extremely effective aerodynamics, while the 750 horsepower engine propels the car to 100 km/h from standing in just 2.9 seconds.

Much of its performance is due to the almost inconceivable power-to-weight ratio of just 1.99 kg/hp (4.38 lbs/hp), with the 6.5-litre V12 and permanent AWD system driving the ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre reinforced polymer body. Rounding out the drivetrain and suspension components is an extremely quick ISR transmission with five modes and a racing chassis with pushrod suspension and horizontal spring/damper units. All said and done, the car car built for the road is able to reach a top speed of 355 km/h.
