For the 2014 season of the Ferrari Challenge, Ferrari has released a new race car, named the 458 Challenge Evoluzione. Based of the current 458 Challenge, this new car has been modified to be even quicker than the predecessor model.
Key differences include the large rear wing, which was developed by Ferrari through their experience in GT racing. Ferrari says the new wing should help with the car’s downforce when coped with the splitter and under tray, allowing the race version to reach higher cornering and top speeds.
All this should lead to quicker lap times when compared to the previous car. Other differences between the Challenge Evoluzione and the road going car is a unique gearbox calibration, which increases acceleration, as well as a considerably lighter body. The engine output remains the same as before, producing 570 horsepower from its 4.5L V8.
Ferrari has already shown the car to potential customers at the Mugello Circuit on November 11, and owners of the previous model would need to upgrade their car to the new spec in order to race in the 2014 season.
