The Mercedes-Benz CLA has proven to be a very capable beast when fitted with AMG's new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and now the GLA crossover can get in on the action as well. Introducing the GLA45 AMG. With 360 horsepower and 332 foot pound of torque, the engine is the most powerful 4-cylinder in the world, allowing the crossover to leap new performance heights.
With the ability to reach 100 kph in just 4.8 seconds, the crossover is capably fast. With direct injection, multiple spark ignition, and its twin-scroll turbo, the GLA45 is fuel efficient as well with a promising 7.5 litres per 100 km. The AMG edition GLA45 also gains a new sports exhaust system, start-stop functionality, and all-wheel drive as standard equipment.
One of the largest faults with previous AMG models was the rather slow MCT transmission, but the GLA45 changes that with the new Speedshift DCT 7-speed automatic. A performance suspension that enables firmer springs and dampers is an option, but be prepared to sacrifice offroading capabilities. At least the four-link rear axle is standard, so the car is still a performance workhorse regardless of the spec you choose.
