MY15 Sonata 01

Hyundai today unveiled the all-new seventh-generation 2015 Sonata in a North American debut at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Building on the incredible success of its predecessor, the newest iteration of Hyundai’s signature intermediate sedan will once again redefine the segment with sophisticated styling, advanced driver assistance technologies, and engineering innovations to improve ride quality and driving feel.

As the first mainstream Hyundai model to feature the company’s “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0” design language, the 2015 Sonata’s taut lines and confident proportions reflect the brand’s new generation of class-leading products that began with the all-new 2015 Genesis. Inside the cabin, Sonata stands apart from competitors with an intuitive overall design punctuated by a driver-oriented centre stack as well as high-quality materials and switchgear. Also new for 2015 are a full suite of class-leading driver assistance technologies, including a Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), and more.

Sonata offers a choice of two powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines, both revised for 2015 to offer improved responsiveness and drivability. Like Hyundai’s Genesis premium sedan, the Sonata’s rigid new chassis was validated in extremely demanding environments, including Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife racing circuit. This relentless focus on research and development has resulted in confident, refined road manners. Drivers seeking a more engaging experience will be able to opt for a “Sport” line of Sonata models featuring more aggressive styling, new interior elements, and improved handling performance.

The 2015 Sonata will be built at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and pricing will be announced closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date in the summer of 2014. The Sonata Hybrid is not affected by the changes to the traditionally-powered Sonata sedan.
