Highly anticipated event of the automotive season, Canada’s Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance returns after record-breaking inaugural year September 13 and 14, 2014

Toronto – The automotive world returns to Canada’s Great Lakes and the shores of Georgian Bay this fall for the highly acclaimed Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Hailed by media and the public, the second-annual edition of the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance will host a choice caliber of Judges, Participants and outstanding automobiles from various periods of history dating back to 1867, once again establishing Canada’s Concours as a show not to be missed.

2Fresh off the heels of the elite international Concours circuit, Cobble Beach Golf Resort’s lush fairways and dramatic coastal vistas will set the stage for a celebration of fine cars, each telling a unique story of our love-affair with the automobile. On September 14th, 100+ examples of rare beauty and ingenuity, hand selected from private collections will compete, celebrating a tradition of excellence dating back to 17th century French high-society.

Founder Rob McLeese says, “Cobble Beach is immensely proud of our success in year one. We are committed to creating a lasting, quality show that Canada will be proud of. We are honoured to welcome new celebrity Judges and automotive personalities from across the continent in 2014, including former Pebble Beach Concours Chief Judge Ed Gilbertson, New York Times automotive contributor Mary Chapman, and Michael Spezia, Executive Director of the Gilmore Car Museum”

Chief Honourary Judge Ed Gilbertson says, "My focus has always been on shows that have serious class judging for originality and authenticity.  Such judging makes a significant contribution to proper preservation and correct restoration for the benefit of future generations.  I am delighted that Cobble Beach is a seriously judged show with a cadre of knowledgeable and experienced judges.  I look forward to being Chief Honourary Judge this year, working again with my respected longtime colleague, Chief Judge John Carlson.

139A new innovation at the Concours is the full-fledged Museum class with eight rare automobiles representing two museums from Canada and two from the United States, namely: Canada Science and Technology Museum (Ottawa), Canadian Automotive Museum (Oshawa), Gilmore Car Museum, (Hickory Corners, MI) and the Antique Automobile Club of America – AACA (Hershey, PA).

Adored legend Margaret Dunning, a 104-year-young longtime car collector who will be featured in Chapman’s upcoming book “Belle of the Concours”, will return among distinguished guests, Honourary Chief Judge Dr. Paul Sable, and Ed Lucas as Master of Ceremonies.

Proceeds raised by Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance will go to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation to fund a state-of-the-art helipad on the rooftop of the Toronto hospital.

McLeese says, “Our inaugural year raised over $50,000 for the Sunnybrook Foundation. We are committed to giving our very best to support this important cause dear to our hearts and community. The Sunnybrook Helipad will directly affect County of Grey residents by providing trauma cases faster access to medical support, ultimately saving lives.
