Arguably Subaru's strongest brand ambassador, the redesigned 2015 WRX made its world premiere at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The company says the motto for the all-new WRX is "Pure Power in Your Control." The new 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" powerplant provides improved power (268 hp, 258 lb-ft of torque) over the previous 2.5-litre 4-cylinder, and is matched to a stiffer chassis and standard 6-speed manual transmission. A smooth-shift Sport Lineartronic transmission is also included, using an eight-speed manual shift mode with sharper shifting response. For drivetrain options, the 2015 WRX will use the brand's Continuous Symmetrical AWD or a variable torque distribution (VTD) to provide power where the wheels need it most.
Despite having a stiffer chassis and 25 mm longer wheelbase, the new WRX is lighter and stronger than the outgoing model, while the driver is welcomed to a host of changes inside, including a "D" shape steering wheel, new gauges and LCD display, and a specially tuned harmon/kardon audio system. An STI version should be announced early in 2014.
