Cadillac's ATS made waves last year as a new model and a poised challenger for top honours in the luxury segment, and today the company unveiled the 2015 ATS Coupe, the 2-door variant and the first model to sport the automaker's restyled logo with a wider, sleeker appearance.

With longer, streamlined bodyline and a widened track, the ATS Coupe adds to the already-heralded performance and handling characteristics of the sedan.

The Coupe drops the 2.5L engine from the sedan's offerings in favour of the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder and the 3.6L V6. Output on the turbocharged powertrain is 272 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the Pentastar 3.6L V6 offers 321 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddleshift, while three-peddlers have the option of a six-speed manual on the 2.0L turbo only.

The ATS coupe also features numerous design distinctions over the sedan, including a new roof, rear fenders, trunk lid, front fascia and wider front fenders to accommodate the Coupe's wider stance.

The result is a car that is 2.9 cm lower, 2 cm longer and 3.6 cm wider. Wheelbase stays the same at 2,775 mm, but a 2 cm wider track in the front and rear gives the Coupe distinct handling advantages over it's four-door counterpart, while still maintaining 51/49 weight distribution.

The driver-focused interior carries over from the sedan, offering a tight and sporty, but equally comfortable drive with leather, aluminum, wood and carbon fiber appointments.

Pairing the materials, the ATS Coupe will also feature a host of top technologies, including OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth phone and audio, text-to-voice phone  readouts, a full-colour heads-up display and an adjustable 5.7-inch, three window instrument panel.

Additionally, the ATS Coupe will offer Cadillac’s “control and alert” package, which employs up to two cameras, eight ultrasonic sensors and six radar signals to help prevent crashes. Two safety packages will be available depending on the ATS Coupe model (Luxury, Performance and Premium):

The Driver Awareness package is available on Luxury and included in Performance and Premium Collections. It includes:

    Safety Alert Seat
    Forward Collision Alert
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist – new to Cadillac for 2015
    Intellibeam high-beam control
    Front and rear park assist
    Rear-vision camera with dynamic guidelines.

The Driver Assist package is available on Performance and Premium collections and includes all of the Driver Awareness package content, plus:
