It has been 30 years since BMW released the first version of the M5 sports sedan, and to mark the occasion, BMW is releasing an even more special model of the fifth-generation M5, the 30 Jahre M5 (30 years of the M5).

Produced in a limited run of 300 examples worldwide, the special edition model develops 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque from a tuned version of the twin-turbo V8, making it the most powerful car BMW has ever built. Top speed is limited to 320 km/h, while acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds.

BMW has also taken inspiration from their BMW Individual line of ultra-exclusive customization options,  which also includes a plaque and door sill finishers as a reminder that this is a very rare car. The price of the 30 Jahre M5 starts at $140,000, which includes the M5's optional Competition Package, but don't expect the price to include the carbon ceramic brakes or the M Performance exhaust.
