Okay, so this is not exactly what we had in mind for TWPC. And when I say 'not exactly', I mean not at all. Not even close.

Basically, we've called an audible here or, more correctly, Nissan Canada's crack PR staff has called one.

For those who may not be aware, and for those who are, we were supposed to be testing a 2017 Nissan 370Z Touring Coupe this week, but something strange happened on the way to the press fleet pick-up this morning.

While en route, a text message flashed across my phone asking if I might be interested in driving a 2017 Nissan GT-R instead of the 370Z.

Upon realizing that it wasn't a dream and the offer was indeed real, I said 'hell yes!!!' faster than you can say Godzilla.

And so that's how this Blaze Metallic GT-R Premium tester landed in our parking space. We only have it for three days (including today), but that's a small price to pay for being able to drive such a rare (at least on Canadian roads) and legendary performance machine.

Basic specs:

- 3.8-litre twin-turbo DOHC V6 (VR38DETT)
- 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (w/ manual mode and paddle shifters)
- front engine / all-wheel drive
- 565 horsepower / 467 lb-ft. of torque
- 0-100 km/h in about 3 seconds

Even though it won't last long, it should be a great three days of driving so please check back for our impressions on Friday.
