After bringing over just 500 2012 Volkswagen Golf R’s to Canada, Volkswagen Canada will be importing the 2013 edition of the “Super Golf” in an even more limited quantity.
Canadian dealers can expect to see just 250 VW Golf R’s during the 2013 model year, retailing for approximately $39,675 – a figure unchanged from the 2012 model year.
The 2013 VW Golf R is based off the five-door GTI model and comes equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that can pump out 256 hp. Also included are 18” “Talledega” alloy wheels that are Golf R specific, a six-speed manual transmission and a lowered suspension for a sporty ride.
Aesthetically speaking, the 2013 Golf R features an aggressive looking exterior with a front fascia that provides the necessary intake for cooling and combustion along with side skirts and a rear diffuser. The interior matches the exterior’s look with an equally sporty feel, with a racing-inspired steering wheel and sport-designed, leather-trimmed seats that still maintain a comfortable driving experience.
The 2013 Golf R will come available with a wide choice of exterior colours. A sliding glass sunroof and an RNS 510 touchscreen navigation system come standard with the automobile.
