Conquest Endurance announced today that it has partnered with Nissan North America to run its LMP2 powerplant for the remainder of the 2012 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón (ALMS) season. The team will debut their new engine at this weekend’s Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach street race.
The NISMO-prepared 4.5L V8 production based engine has set the benchmark in endurance racing and in 2011 it not only took the win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but also the overall LMP2 championship in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. Conquest Endurance’s No. 37 Morgan chassis and its drivers Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier Hansson will have the only Nissan-prepared engine in the ALMS field.

The Conquest team had the opportunity to fire their Nissan engine for the first time this weekend at Putman Park, where Plowman had a chance to test the car and familiarize himself with the new powerplant before Saturday’s race at Long Beach.
ESPN2 airs the race live from the world famous Long Beach street circuit just outside Los Angeles starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. The race will also air live in Canada on Sportsnet One, and will be carried simultaneously on ESPN3 and www.ALMS.com.
