Holden flying the Chevy banner on US soil

The first V8 Supercar has arrived in the U.S. with the Holden "Car of the Future" arriving in Texas as part of the Austin 400's pre-event promotional campaign.

The car was the first 2013-spec "Car of the Future" to carry the Holden bodywork and used as part of the development process for the new cars.

For the Austin weekend (May 17-19), the GM Holden Commodores will wear the branding of Chevrolet. The new Chevrolet SS road car is actually built in Australia and exported to the U.S. in left-hand drive form.

Whether running as a Holden Commodore in V8 Supercars or as a Chevrolet SS in NASCAR competition, the new car has been highly successful in 2013.

In seven NASCAR events so far this year (including the Sprint Unlimited and Budweiser Duels), Chevrolet has won four of the races.

In V8 Supercars, the GM brand has been even more dominant, winning six for six including both legs of the Clipsal 500 and all four races in last week's support race at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
