The Porsche 911 Targa is making its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Just like the legendary Targa model introduced in the 60’s, the new model features the characteristic wide bar in place of the B-pillars, a movable roof section above the front seats and a wraparound rear window without a C-pillar. Unlike the original, the roof segment on the new Targa can be opened and closed at the push of a button. The fully automatic roof system stows the convertible top behind the rear seats. Based on the Carrera 4 models, the Targa offers standard rear-biased PTM all-wheel drive ensuring optimum driving dynamics regardless of road surface or weather.

P14 0006The new Targa generation comes in two versions. The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a 3.4-litre, 350 hp flat-six engine. Equipped with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox and Sport Chrono package, this model accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 282 km/h. According to Transport Canada, its fuel consumption figures are as low as 7.5 litres/100 km. The 911 Targa 4S is the top-level model, which delivers 400 hp from a displacement of 3.8 litres. This model reaches a top speed of 296 km/h and, with PDK and Sport Chrono, accelerates in 4.4 seconds. Its fuel consumption can be as low as 7.8 litres per 100 km. The new Targa models will arrive in Canada this summer with pricing starting at $115,900 for the Targa 4, and $132,600 for the Targa 4S.
