Audi has recently decided to expand its A3 offerings in North America, and next week at Geneva we will see the introduction of their newest sport model, the S3 Cabriolet. The new open-top four seater maintains the same drivetrain as the S3 sedan, with the 2.0 TFSI engine developing 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Top speed is limited electronically to 250 km on both models, but the cabriolet is slower to 100 km/h, now 5.4 seconds as opposed to 4.9 seconds, due largely in part to the increased weight of the folding fabric roof and the extra body reinforcement. The soft top itself is powered by an electrohydraulic drive, and takes just 18 seconds to open or close, even at speeds up to 50 km/h. The car features Audi's Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive, and with the S-tronic package, consumes just 7.1 liters of fuel per 100 km.
