The X Series used to be the epitome of BMW’s off-road transportation, but the SUV line has been trumped by something much smaller, and presumably, much cheaper. The company announced its Mountainbike All Mountain, the result of a collaboration between BMW and an unnamed German bike specialist. It will be included in the automaker’s 2013/14 lifestyle catalog.
The full suspension aluminum frame was built using automotive production techniques making it the first bike of its kind, and includes 30 gears, a lock-out front fork, Shimano XT derailleurs (gear changers for you non-dirt rag lovers), hydraulic disc brakes and a four-pivot suspended rear with anti-bob technology.
At 13.4 kg, the All Mountain is built for some serious single-track and cross country riding, and the Crank brothers wheel set with minimal spokes makes it look pretty sharp too. For those not looking to get down and dirty in the mud, the BMW shop also offers a complete list of cruisers and touring bikes.
