The 2013 World Endurance Championship will include individual driver trophies for all four classes at the recommendation of the FIA World Endurance Commission, the series announced on its website Friday.
The titles will include FIA Endurance Trophies for LMP2 drivers with LMGTE drivers in the Pro and Am categories competing for a World Cup title trophy.
Currently, teams and manufacturers receive trophies for the season, with the LMGTE manufacturer trophy secured by Ferrari this season, while the AF Corse LMGTE Pro team won the title at the 6 Hours of Bahrain two weeks ago. The LMGTE Am team title is still up for grabs with two races remaining.
The awards will work in conjunction with the current overall drivers’ title, which essentially acts as the LMP1 drivers’ championship.
