The signature Lexus high-performance luxury sport sedan delivers an all-out driving experience
Track-tested performance means exhilarating power, split-second shifts, and race-car handling and dynamics. The Lexus tradition means no-compromise luxury and attention to detail. The 2014 Lexus IS F delivers pure performance – and pure fun – in a single fully-equipped model.
“For the IS F, Lexus created a high-performance sport sedan – then tested and refined it on Japan’s legendary Fuji Speedway,” said Cyril Dimitris, Director of Lexus Canada. “For 2014, the IS F legacy continues – with adrenaline-pumping performance, razor-sharp styling, precision handling and numerous advanced, race-inspired technologies. There’s room for four, but the IS F was designed, engineered and built with one person in mind: The driver.”
The 2014 IS F lives up to its reputation as The Beast, with a 5.0L V8 that produces 416 peak horsepower and up to 371 lb-ft of torque to launch the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds. Enhanced with several sophisticated Lexus engine technologies, the IS F takes full advantage of this remarkable engine across a broad speed range, while squeezing maximum energy and efficiency from every drop of gasoline.
This engine is mated to an advanced, eight-speed automatic with Sport Direct Shift Control and driver-selectable operating modes – from the fully automatic D-mode that delivers exceptional launch power and lightning quick acceleration to the M mode that feels like a true manual. Steering wheel mounted paddle shifters deliver crisLyxp up-shifts in one-tenth of a second, while downshifts are enhanced with precise automated throttle blips that match engine RPM to the IS F’s speed.
Power demands control, and the 2014 Lexus IS F features many dynamic, driver-focused systems to help harness and make greatest use of the vehicle’s capabilities. The IS F features a specially sport-tuned version of the Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, which anticipates and corrects potential stability problems such as skids or slides to optimize handling and control. Three modes let the driver modify the IS F’s driving and handling dynamics. Drivers may also turn off VDIM when challenging their own skills behind the wheel on a closed course.
The IS F’s suspension is also specially tuned, with double wishbone front and multilink rear configurations. This suspension is tailored to enhance stability and road-feel, and features a special front-end anti-dive and anti-squat geometry. A limited-slip Torsen rear differential provides additional traction.
For precise cornering and lane changes, the IS F is equipped with highly-responsive electric rack-and-pinion progressive rate power steering, while low-profile performance tires provide the handling and grip that a high-performance vehicle demands. The IS F’s unique 19-inch forged alloy wheels are specially designed to draw air across the brakes to aid in cooling. Those brakes deliver high-performance stopping power, with 14.2-inch front and 13.6-inch rear disc brakes fitted with BREMBO high-friction pads.
No-compromise safety is standard on every Lexus model. The 2014 Lexus IS F features eight airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and more – including active safety technologies such as Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Antilock Braking System with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Smart Stop Technology. Additional safety systems include anchor points for child seats, child protector rear door locks, an on-board first-aid kit, a back-up camera, clearance and back-up sonar systems, high visibility, fast-acting, long-lasting LED brake lamps and LED daytime running lights, front windshield de-icer, and more.
Generously appointed, all 2014 Lexus IS F models feature many enhancements over previous models. Standard equipment now includes: A 14-speaker Mark Levinson Audio system with in-dash DVD, Automatic Sound Levelizer System, Bluetooth capability, integrated XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel-mounted audio controls; LED fog lights; headlamp washers; carbon fiber rear spoiler; the F SPORT logo embossed in the headrests; and Alcantara door inserts and centre armrest.
