As promised, this week marks the return of more American muscle (that's built in Canada) to our parking space in the form of the 2016 Dodge Charger SRT 392.

A couple weeks back we tested this car's twin, the Challenger SRT 392, and this car is more or less the same vehicle but with a couple of notable differences. Obviously, it has four doors instead of two and comes wrapped in different sheet metal, but the big mechanical difference is the presence of an automatic transmission.

Whereas our Challenger tester came equipped with a six-speed manual (and is available with an automatic), the Charger is available only with FCA's 8-speed TorqueFlight automatic. No shifting your own gears in this car, although the 8-speed comes with a manual mode and paddle shifters.

At any rate, as with the Challenger, the Charger is a real feast for the senses. It looks like it drives: fast and aggressive.

Its performance profile is the same as that of the Challenger, but here's a quick refresh for the uninitated.

- 6.4-litre SRT (392 cubic-inch) HEMI V8
- 8-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission (w/ manual mode and paddle shifters)
- 485 horsepower / 475 lb-ft. of torque
- 0-100 km/h in about 4 seconds

And much like our time with the Challenger, we're forecasting a fun week of driving ahead, so check back on Friday for our thoughts on this beastly four-door.
