Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced its first-place finish at the Rally of the Tall Pines, held November 29-30 in Bancroft, Ontario. Seasoned Subaru WRX driver Chris Martin claimed first place during the final event of the season, helping Subaru secure its second-place finish in the 2013 Canadian Rally Championship. While 2013 marks Martin's seventh Tall Pines rally, this is his first victory at a national level rally.

Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Pat Richard entered the final round of the Championship in a good position to fight for the manufacturer's as well as driver's title with his sister and new co-driver, Nathalie Richard. As the most successful co-driver in Canadian history, Richard clinched a ninth North American Rally Cup co-driver's title with the Rally of the Tall Pines this year. As Richard and co-driver Richard maintained a secure second position through the first few stages, the focus at all times was to make the best decisions to win the manufacturer's title for Subaru Canada. Despite avoiding all big risks, Richard's WRX STI still experienced multiple tire punctures, ultimately leading to a differential failure and an early retirement from the event.

"It was a bit of a bittersweet weekend," said Subaru driver Pat Richard. "A Subaru won the event, driven by Chris Martin, but we were a few points shy of another manufacturer's championship."
