Alpina B6 Gran Coupe

BMW attempts to make a car for every kind of customer through their wide range of models, but Alpina continues to have a place in the market with their new B6 Gran Coupe, revised for 2016. The car takes a different take on luxury and performance from BMW’s very own M6, bringing a desirable option to customers looking for a car that is more unique than what’s typically found on the road.

Alpina B6 Gran Coupe 1Power figures for the 2016 model have increased to 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, up from the 540 hp, and 540 lb-ft from the predecessor. The 8-speed model is able to propel to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds to a top speed “limited” to 200 mph. These figures make the Alpina B6 quicker than BMW’s own M6 model, at least in a straight line.

The B6 is heavier than the M6, largely in part to Alpina adding additional sound proofing and luxury to the car. The large sedan is still able to go around corners thanks to BMW’s adjustable Dynamic Damper Control, xDrive AWD, and active roll suspension. The Gran Coupe also provides a different driving experience due to the all-wheel drive configuration.

The Alpina B6 has received stylistic updates to the hood and to the front splitter for increased ride stability, as well as features blue brake callipers and new badging. The interior has also been modified with a blue instrumentation cluster as well as a hand-stitched Lavalin leather steering wheel. Wood trim is also unique, choices being either Myrtle or Piano lacquer.

The Alpina B6 is available only through special order, with delivers expected to take place in June.
